This course provides appropriate knowledge, skills and competencies in fibre optics engineering that can be applied to design, install and operate job inside and outside plants and premises.
It contains both theoretical and practical knowledge of fibre optic theory, codes, standards and practices widely accepted in the fibre optics industry. Course modules include fibre terminations, cable preparations, fusion splicing, OTDR and optical loss testing. These skills are applicable to all the requirements to safely and competently install, maintain, and test fibre optic cabling systems.
How Well Is This Programme Recognised By The Industry:-
Fibre Optic Installation And Maintenance - Telecommunication programme also comprises three modules (Internal Fibre Optic, External Fibre Optic, and External Copper Cable) and three external industrial certifications required by the industry.
In order to perform all the technical tasks at site, technicians must be supported with Green Card from the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) and NIOSH Telekom Malaysia Safety Passport (NTMSP) from the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). For on-pole works, participants required to obtain Mobile Ladder Training And Fall Protection Equipment. All these certificates are important to provide the necessary knowledge on legislation related to the safety and health at the work place, specifically the Occupational Safety And Health Act 1991 and its Regulations.
